This month I will be talking about the most important thing in 2020: COVID-19. This is the AUDREY4CARE Environmental News Report. I am Audrey Kim.

Source: Top 10 environmental news stories of 2020, WWL (deforestation)

Welcome to AUDREY4CARE, your source of Environmental News and Headlines from around the world! Due to Covid-19 the environment got better and worse. Because of the lockdown people stopped going outside. The animals were not afraid anymore and went into the streets and the sky was clearer than pure spring water! Not only was the air and water cleaner there was a dip in greenhouse gas emissions! However, good is always proceeded by bad. Several meetings that were scheduled to be about climate change were canceled or postponed. However, in Brazil, so much of the forest was deforested that it beat records of 2008. Also, in some tropical places including Brazil and Indonesia more people were engaged in illegal logging, mining, and land invasions due to relaxed environmental regulation and enforcement.

Now I will talk about deforestation more in-depth.

Deforestation is bad for so many reasons! Here are just a few: One: while you are cutting down trees you are also creating greenhouse gas emissions. Two: the soil depends on the trees to keep it in place. When the trees aren’t there it creates more soil erosion. Last but most importantly, all trees provide homes to insects and animals. When the trees are removed then the animals, insects, and vegetation suddenly go ‘poof’ or are pushed to another place to survive. So please don’t irresponsibly destroy natural habitats for wild creatures!!

Thanks for watching. This is the AUDREY4CARE Environmental News Report. I am Audrey Kim. Hope you and everyone watching around the world has a happy and healthy New Year!!
See you in 2021!!!
